Office 365 is a subscription that includes premium versions of Office apps across all your devices, monthly feature updates, and 1 TB of cloud storage. Office 2019 is a one-time purchase that includes classic versions of Office apps installed on one PC or Mac (or 5+ with a volume license).

Office 2019 suites

Office 2016 suites and standalone applications


Office suites are a one-time purchase that includes applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for use on a single PC or Mac. Office 2016 suites for business may be purchased for more than five computers through volume licensing. Office as a one-time purchase does not include any of the services included in Office 365 (e.g. Exchange Online, SharePoint Online). Office 2016 and Office 2019 connections to Office 365 services will be supported until October 2023. Note: Office 2019 is the latest version of Office available as a one-time purchase.

Office 365 is designed to work with the latest browsers and versions of Office. If you use older browsers and versions of Office that are not in mainstream support:

  • Microsoft won’t deliberately prevent you from connecting to the service, but the quality of your Office 365 experience may diminish over time.

Outlook 2013
For integration with Exchange, connect Outlook 2013 to the supported versions of Exchange: Exchange 2007, Exchange 2010, or Exchange Server 2013. Outlook 2013 is not supported on Exchange 2003.
 
For integration with Microsoft Lync (optional): Skype for Business 2015, Lync 2013, Lync 2010, and Office Communicator 2007 R2 are supported with Outlook 2013. Office Communicator 2005 and Office Communicator 2007 are not supported.
