At the 2017 Gastech conference in Tokyo, The Linde Group, a German multinational gas and engineering company, unveiled a virtual reality application that allows users to explore firsthand the finer details of industrial-scale plants. This advancement is just the latest in a long history of innovation beginning in 1895, when founder Carl von Linde registered his first patent for the liquefaction of air. These breakthroughs exemplify the “Linde Spirit,” a corporate credo that unites a global workforce spread across more than 100 countries. In accordance with the Linde Spirit, everyone strives to achieve the company’s mission through the creative use of technology: “We will be the leading global gases and engineering company, admired for our people, who provide innovative solutions that make a difference in the world.”
The Linde IT team plays a critical role in reinforcing the Linde Spirit by creating an empowering workplace built on Microsoft 365 Enterprise, which combines the power of Office 365, Enterprise Mobility + Security, and Windows 10. Deploying cloud-based business services to achieve a digital transformation across the company’s global footprint offers yet another example of its pioneering approach to technical innovation. “We’re using Microsoft 365 Enterprise to succeed in today’s volatile global market by empowering employees with a modern and collaborative workplace culture, built on highly secure technologies,” says Sebastian Mahler, Head of Enterprise Infrastructure at The Linde Group.
Linde worked with the Microsoft Consulting Services (MCS) Adoption and Change Management team to prepare the company and the employees for the Office 365 deployment. It also engaged the Microsoft FastTrack Team to help with the migration of employees’ email accounts. FastTrack is the customer success service included with eligible Office 365 subscriptions. “Overall, our experience with MCS and FastTrack has been very positive,” says Mahler. “Everyone collaborated to get the job done. For example, the MCS Adoption and Change Management team ensured that our employees are leveraging the solution and we, as a company, are able to make use of the full benefit. They involved key business stakeholders around the globe in a Change Agent Network and supported senior executives and their teams to work in a new way to help us achieve the best business outcomes.”
